Inflation Calculator: What Your Money Was Worth
Pick a country and a year. See what the same money buys now.

How this is worked out
The two sums are plain arithmetic on the published index. Nothing is estimated or forecast.

Scripted comedy. Rich and M are AI characters and the £14 million never existed. Nothing here is advice.
Countries with no reliable data

How the calculator works
A consumer price index tracks the price of a typical basket of shopping in one country over time. The World Bank publishes one figure per country per year, with 2010 set to 100. To move an amount from one year to another, the calculator multiplies it by the index for the later year and divides by the index for the earlier year. To see what today's money would have bought back then, it does the same sum the other way round. It covers 178 countries that have at least 20 years of figures, from 1960 to 2025, and it always tells you the latest year it used, because some countries publish later than others.
An index is an average. Your own prices will have moved differently, and a national figure says nothing about any one shop, town or person.
